Monthly vs. Individual Lessons: Students can either choose to take  lessons individually or sign up for monthly lessons (contract).    The main differences are in pricing and lessons times. For students looking to change vocal habits, build strength, increase their range, improve their technique or become an overall better singer, I suggest for monthly lessons.  For students preparing for an audition or recording session, in town for a few weeks, or unsure if they will benefit from lessons, I suggest individual lessons.

Monthly Lessons: For monthly lessons, there is a 2-month commitment.  Monthly lessons are based on 4 lessons per month. For monthly lessons, you will have a regular lesson time that is weekly and will be “your” lesson time.  Example…Monday at 430pm. That would be consecutive lessons without weekly or bi-weekly breaks. Contract lesson payments are paid monthly by Paypal, Venmo or check.

Individual Lessons:  Individual lessons are scheduled one at a time.  They do not need to be consistent (although it is beneficial to have some consistency).  There is no set lesson time and is subject to availability.  It is structured different than weekly lessons because they are generally for auditions, upcoming recordings performances, ti clean up minor technique issues, fix wrong notes, and work on short term goals.  This is a great choice if you have a specific piece you are preparing, if you travel often, are unsure of their schedule, or prefer flexibility.

Lessons can include any or all of the following:

  • technique: breath & support
  • technique: tone & stylizing
  • technique: range extension & flexibility
  • performing & practicing techniques
  • music theory
  • ear training
  • songwriting
  • sight-reading
  • beginning/intermediate piano

One Time Registration Fee:
When you sign up for lessons, there is a $35  one-time registration fee per student when starting lessons. This covers a binder of tips and exercises that has been compiled especially for Scofield Studio as well as two sets of vocal exercises for practicing outside of lessons.

Group Lessons: I also teach small group lessons to couples or families.  The cost for group lessons varies on the number of students.  A hour long group lesson for two people would be $120 ($60/each).  A group lesson for three people would be  $150 ($50 each).  A group lesson for four people would be $160 ($40 each)

Home Lessons:  I do teach home lessons if they are more convenient for your situation.  My availability is limited for home lessons.  The pricing is the same as studio lessons plus an additional travel fee.  Minimum travel fee per lesson is $20.   The travel fee is calculated from the distance from the Bundy Ave/Santa Monica Blvd (RT).

Need Based Discounts: I understand that lessons are a financial commitment and can be expensive. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact Jocelyn for questions and availability.
